Philip Starr Building
The concept for this 52,000 SF facility for the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe revolves around the desire for the building and site development to reflect the relationship to the natural environment and day-to-day activities of the Fisheries, Wildlife, and Policy Departments housed within.
The Helix Design Group team incorporated several influences into the design, including the extensive wetlands on each side of the site, orientation to Mount Rainier, the visual connection to the new administration complex entry, and a desire to blend the complex with the natural environment, and access to daylight for building users.
